No we didn't invent the wave but it's now tightly associated w/ the Corvette community.
When I was 8 I got my first ride in my mother's friend's green C4. Jerri was driving me back from swim practice and the first thing she told me was, "You have to wave at other Corvettes, it's what you do." Coincidentally (sp?), about 2 min later another vette passes us and waved, Jerri of course waved back and thus "the corvette wave" was instilled in me ever since.
I owned a Mustang cobra for 5 years (hence the screen name) and ther was no comradery... no community like w/ the Corvette.
Back in '00 my parents' picked up their '99 vert... when I got the chance to drive it and someone would wave at me it was such an awesome feeling, like, "Yeah I know you know what I know"
I think the people/community associated w/ the car are what makes it so special, more than "just a car".

Right on. And honestly, if a mustang rumbles up next to me with someone obviously "into" the car, I'm the first to wave or give a thumbs-up to the 'stang. It's all about the car enthusiast culture, no matter what they're driving.
