Default Another CL bites the dust!

Just had my 2000 vert A4 towed in to the stealership. "Pull Key, Wait 10 Secs." "Service Column Lock". Had the recall done about 6 mos. ago.

$50 on a clb would have prevented this

I want to make sure that I have my facts straight. I thought that I read somewhere that this isn't a problem on A4's or is it only on certain years?
Thanks
Chris

01 and newer A4's are the ones not included. I think.

Forget GM recalls, they are totally useless!!!

CLB is the ONLY way to remedy the column lock issue!
Sorry to hear about your misfortune, get that car back, and get a CLB in ASAP!
ANYONE out there who owns a C5, 1997-2004, stick or auto, recalls performed or not, should have a CLB installed in their car by now. If you didn't do any recalls yet, great, because its a waste of your time going to the dealer. GM dropped the ball on this and their "recalls" don't do jack for your car, or you. I'm still amazed how GM never came up with a CLB type fix in the first place, and their 2 or 3 recalls on this issue just don't work.

If you had the recalls done, get the CLB anyway

I used to believe in GM, I had the two recalls done, and 2 weeks ago I got the dreaded "Pull Key, Wait 10 Sec" warning. Luckily, I just got home. The next move I made was ordering a CLB! Get it and move on with your life.

I hate to say this, but anyone who knows about the CLB, and didn't put it in their car yet, almost deserves to get stuck becuase of their ignorance, stupidity, laziness , or a combination thereof!

Ignorant, stupid, Hard for me to tell for sure. Lazy yeah, but in my defense the column lock issue isn't quite so cut and dried. Having had the earlier recall done I can't just put in the CLB. GM added a relay to my car during the last recall and programmed in the fuel shut off (not to mention erasing my A&A tune). So maybe I can install it but in the event the computer receives an error code I'm still screwed, I'm not going anywhere. There has been more than one report of the CLB not working, especially in earlier C5s.

Default Pardon my ignorance.....

I've gotten this problem in the past and would like to remedy it. My car is a '98 vert. Now, I know CL stands for "column Lock" but what is a "CLB"?

Hard to believe you have been on this forum for almost a year and you are not aware of the Column Lock Bypass kit. I would suggest using the search feature and check out the sticky on the top regarding the Column Lock issue. The CLB sells for about $50 from several supporting vendors.

Just trying to get clarification, are you saying that an '04 auto did not come from the factory with the CL or that you have already done the mod?
Thanks

01-04 do not have a CL. You do not need to do the CLB.
