I have a 2001, my battery quit last month. If you have the original one? I'd change it if I were you.
to save all my settings, I clipped another battery on to the alternator battery post, and the alternator itself, changed the battery, and all is good.

The AC-Delco battery you describe is an Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery (not a gel cell battery) and you should find "AGM" printed on the battery's label. GM never installed a gel cell battery in the C5 at the factory to my knowledge. GM started installing the AGM batteries in the C5s at the factory during the 2001 model year.
