Insurance, when we have an event or cruise as a group we have a million dollar rider.
News Letter, printing and mailing.
We belong to a couple auto lobby groups.
NCM membership.
Our dues run $45 per couple and $22.50 for a single.
We break about even on the dues, our insurance just went up 33% so it may not be a break even.

vpunteney had it right. Our club also puts on a club birthday dinner and a Christmas party that is free to paid members. Pretty much gets our dues back. River City Corvettes
Our club's 40 dollars per year goes toward door prizes at the meetings, some reduction in the cost of our annual Christmas dinner. We usually have some left over to support one or two community charities.
$40.'s a year... Holiday party, club picnic, monthly news letter, website, Free food at membership meetings, rental hall for meetings, donations to child charities. Each year we raffle off a low mileage Corvette and the proceeds are given to charity. cars given away in the last few years...
2006 1998 cp 34K miles
2005 1998 cp. 24K miles
2004 1989 conv. 14K miles
2003 1990 ZR-1 less than 6K miles
2002 1996 Cp. less than 5 K miles.
In the last 10 years we have donated over $150.000.'s to charity, each month at our membership meeting we give away a free 1 year membership to the NCM. ($600.'s per year)
Any reason to have in excess of $15,000 in the bank? Do you guys purchase hats, Tshirts, jackets, etc. for your Board Members as gifts each year?
It depends on what charity your club is active with. We put on a rally each year and pay for a couple of kids to go to the local community college. This is a sperate account, the club does fund the cost of the rally so we have more to add to the scholarship fund.
We are a non profit, which means there are limits you can have in a account.
In the past, who ever was on the board received a token gift at the end of there term. No logo wear was or has been purchased for board members. I've been the Prez for 3 years now and have asked not to receive a yearly gift, it just doesn't seem right to me.
It sounds like you have an issue with the amount in your clubs account. I'm not sure what size your club is, but for our club that would be more than we would have on account. If we run heavy in the winter time, we pick a few familes down on there luck and make kids very happy.
.......a big holiday party/dinner banquet that is 'free'. We also give away $$ to some charities, pay for the website hosting, and most legally important, pay for insurance that covers libility at our events. Benefits of membership also include deep discounts at our sponsoring Chev dealer on parts.....WAY DEEPER than the 10% some guy mentions above, and meaningful discounts at our sponsoring Big-O tire dealer, and a mild discount at our sponsoring tuning and service shop, Modern Classics Performance.
I have saved MANY TIMES over the cost of dues just in GM parts savings, and also MANY TIMES over the cost of dues ......about a hundred bucks saved, on tires. For us, membership has its benefits! Total savings in parts and tires after cost of dues in 2 years ownership.... about 400 dollars
However, [ unabashed plug] Fred Beans did beat our sponsoring dealer club discount price on a set of 4 tire pressure senders with hardware so for that purchase I bought from Fred Beans....a big sponsor of THIS Forum! Thanks guys!
Our club sponsor Bryner Chev. also has special pricing on all Chev. cars including new and used Corvette's for club members and cost +10% on all GM parts.

The club may need $15K as a float to cover cost outlays, relative to the timing of cash inflow from members/ event.s
The club may also be trying to buy some land for a future clubhouse.
Insurance rider if we hold an event
Small stock of Club logo shirts
Postage and printing costs
Annual Christmas dinner buffet ( free to ALL members)
Reasonable contributions to any charity the club might sponsor
Club (business member) dues at National Corvette Museum
We generally have about $3,500 on hand between savings / checking.

Our club dues are $25.00 per family. We use the money for expenses, and christmas parties, and that sort of stuff. If we have any surplus, it normally goes to the charity we choose to help out during our annual car show. This year we gave $8000.00+ to Special Olympics.
