How long do you guys let your Corvette sit without staring her up. Mine is going on 3 weeks. Am I causing any damage by going this long? Thanks

Default How long is too long

I have an Email from a Technical Support Engineer at Mobil Oil.

His answer is: We first recommend that you check with your dealer

about vehicle storage. We suggest that starting the car at least

monthly would be the best procedure to make sure oil is circulated

throughout the engine.

Your not alone, I go 2-3 weeks also. Sometimes in the winter, 4-5 weeks, depending on salt content. (I hate that liquid salt). So long as the seals stay moist, it will be ok. I read that you want to run the car at least monthly for 30minutes to lube the seals.

What in the hell are you guys in Tennessee and Virginia storing them for the winter for? Good grief, it's not like you've got snow on the ground 24x7 until April.

I dont store it, I just dont drive everyday, got a beater for that. Yes, I'm one of those people, own a vette, leave it covered in the garage and then treat myself whenever the mood arises. Its a sickness, I cant help it. In therapy now.

Yes It will cause severe damage. Not to the car but to your mental well being. Get out there start her up and drive her right now before the damage is irreversible

Mine starts to get a low battery if I let it sit for more than about 3 weeks. The battery doesn't die, it just starts hard.

That pic looks like mine when I had the drivetrain out to redo the clutch.

It was 6 weeks of tedium and the best time was getting it off the jacks and onto the road where it belongs!

My bad on staring. I meant starting, although I really stare at the Corvette also. Good catch though. I downed 2 cups of coffee now so I should be more alert.
During the summer I drive it about 3 times per week. In the fall/winter it is more like once every 3-4 weeks. Thanks for the inputs.

I've let mine sit for well over a month before without starting the car up. So far doesn't seem to have any adverse effects on the car.

About 4 or 5 days of waiting for the snow and ice to melt. I can't stand not driving this car

Just took her for a short jaunt. Wiped her down. Hooked up the battery tender. Covered, tucked in until I can't stand it again.
I'll have withdrawls when it snows. Oh well that's life in the Midwest.

Mine's in storage and won't get started until April. I've done the same thing for 5 years and never had a problem.

Me too, but I don't do it long enough to worry about STORING it fer christsakes. Perhaps you've set the bar a bit high to get a "treat"?
