This past Sat my wife and I were ready to participate in our first road rallye ever. We were leaving the house to drive 45 miles to Gettysburg Pa to participate in our club's rallye around the battlefield and countryside. (A perfect way to spend an autmn day in the vette).
As we pulled out of the garage the computer told me the right, front tire was flat. Well we thought that was the end of a beautiful day. Being a run flat I decided to take the car to our tire dealership and take a chance that they could fix it. Well we were able to drive the 10miles to the dealer and luckily they could squeeze us in. We made it to the rallye just in time and DID have a fantastic time.
I am still sold on run flats...I know it's about 50/50 for and against them and everyone's entitled to their own opinions about them. Just my two cents
That's certainly a benefit... my car had a left rear puncture (non-EMT) and needed to be replaced. Three days later the tire showed up (had to be shipped out of another state) and my car was up and running again.

I still have them on 2 of my C5s but not the other. On a trip with the club to the Corvette Museum a couple of years ago we were starting home and I got a low tire warning. Had a nail and slow leak. Just aired it up and drove it back to Indy. Would have never chanced it on a non runflkat but figured it wasn't a problem if it got low between gas stations. Great peace of mind but crappy ride.

Runflats do serve a good purpose. I run a set during the winter - figure I can handle the hot weather with non runflats rather than the cold weather without the runflats.

Bought the Michilins zero pressure runflats. Peace of mind is worth it. Road hazzard, warranty and the ride is great. Onlyrun flat other than goodyear that can be fixed.

I got rid of my run flats when I got my CCWs but I have to admit, I'm still a little paranoid about not having them. Having said that, I do enjoy the improvements of my non-runflats.
Most of any significant drive time in the vette is highway and I have no problem with noise, ride etc. Guess my thinking has been that with the runflats I've got less hassles should something occur...
