I found a local auto dealer who is willing to sell me a set of ccw wheels on a c5 vette that he bought at auction. The wheels look pretty beat up but he’s pretty much giving them away.
The wheels look very dull, not shinny like the other ccw wheels you see on members cars. Is this just because they have not been polished in awhile? If I were to buy them and polish them up will that bring back the deep shine?
Lastly, three rims have very bad curb rash. Is this something that can be fixed on a polished rim? I have seen it done on normal silver alloy wheels but not sure if it can be done to a fully polished wheel. Anyone know what a fair price is to pay to have each wheel fixed?
it all depends on what model ccw they are. if they are 3 pc. wheels you can buy just the outer ring from ccw. as for the polishing, you better take them to a pro, its hard and time consuming to polish a wheel to a mirror finish you see on the brand new ones. as for price, what ccw wheel is it, and how much does he want for them.
I just spoke with Chip at ccw today,he said if the wheels have no real "damage" to them, that yes they could be repolished to as new condition.....
Even with moderate damage they can likely be repaired,it just may cost a little more...
I will refrain from posting the price he quoted me,but it was in the hundreds for the set.......
I can get them for 500. the dealer has no clue what these wheels are worth.
Man, I think I know what wheels you're talking about and you beat me to them. (ha ha) They're on a white high mileage coupe in the bay area, correct?
Anyway, if you do get them I'd suggest you take them to Wheel Techniques in San Jose. Nothing but positive reviews on this place and they did a very informative seminar for another forum I'm on and have done great jobs on wheels I've scene. Basically they do excellent work. PM me if you'd like to see reviews (w/ pics and detailed descriptions of repair jobs they've done.)
