Ok so the other day I saw that someone had posted that they put a GTO spare in their car for a spare tire. I am thinking about getting some non run flats prety soon here and was wondering if anyone knew if there was any to fit a spare in our trunk without having it take all the space. Will the GTO spare work? Please let me know.
You could mount the spare to the outside of the bumper like they do on some vans. Otherwise – trunk so cavity big – tire so big – what else is there? You could invent and patent a shrink-ray machine I suppose.
P.S. Will the GTO rim fit on the Car? Keep in mind that tires of the same diameter must be used on a posi-traction axle.
Har har har funny stuff there. Seriously tho I don't know if it will fit. I don't remember what topic I saw that in and did a search and couldn't find it so I figgured I would post. I need trunk space for my wheelchair so I was curious what they were doing. I only live a few miles from work and have other vehicles and I have AAA and factory road side assistance so I am not too worried. Just a little curious.
The GTO spare tire/wheel will fit a C5 if the ID of the center hole is opened up slightly. As I recall, the OD of the tire is very close to that of the C5. You might research the question on the LS1/GTO site.
I've considered the same option, but the spare will take up a lot of limited trunk space and add weight. You might be better off considering buying a small 12v compressor, tire sealant (sensor safe), tire plugs/tools, etc.
