Default Swaybar

I'm not trying to beat a dead horse on this topic, but I have a question regarding upgrading the swaybars on a Z06.

Mine is a '01 Z, car is not tracked (yet), but with plenty of sprited mountain drives at the moment. I am very interested in participating in Track Days (used to race motorcycles, love being at the track), but have not planned on anything yet.

In regards to upgrading the swaybars, looking at forum vendor prices, the Hotchkiss Sport Sways are only $43 less than the T1s. Will the T1s be overkill for the current usage of the car, or instead, good preparation for future use?

Looking at the difference in the swaybar diameter, the Hotckis is about mid-point when comparing stock-to-T1 in the rear, but not extremely different in the front.
30.0mm, front; 23.6mm, rear --- FE4/Z06
31.75mm, front; 25.4mm, rear --- Hotchkis
38.4mm, front; 27.5mm, rear --- GM T1

Given the difference in price is nominal, what route should I take?

Thanks!

High speed track I assume? If so go T1 for sure. You should get better shocks as T1s are very stiff.

I read in other threads regarding upgrading the shocks also, as to make better use of the T1s itself, but I want to get the sways first, prior to shocks.

As far as tracks, Road Atlanta/Barber, my two favorites from my WERA season, are the first I'd love to try out w/ the Z

I think you'll find the stock setup to be up to the job. Short of going SCCA racing in your Z06 it's pretty stout.

Hey Dan,

What's the setup you have on your Z?
**Edit** I do have to replace my rear end-links for sure, as they're in bad shape. That's when I started looking at swaybars in general.

I'm running the stock bars and end links on stock springs with it lowered 20mm (the sweet spot in the stock shocks dampening). If I were going to upgrade I would go to the T1 bars and springs since those of us used to riding race bikes are used to a stiff ride anyway.
