OK. I pulled the car in the garage last night with 1/4 tank of gas.
Started it up the AM and the tank was empty and check fuel gauge came on immediately!

Could be your fuel sending units are messed up - Could only be sulfur deposits on them. Try running a bottle or two of Techron through the gas tank and see if that cures the problem. You also might want to switch brands of gas for a while and see if that helps.

I have this problem every once in a while. Techron & switching fueling stations seems to help. As a precaution, I use Trip A as a fuel odometer and Trip B as a oil odometer. I also don't let the car get below 1/4 of a tank.
Had the same problem with my 02. Had the right one fixed just yesterday and guess what? The left one took a dump a few hours later. Dealer says bring it in tomorrow. Good thing its a warrant item.
