Default How Do I Remove the Padding Underneath the Hood?

I am replacing the padding underneath the hood and replacing it with a new one from Ecklers that has the emblem on it. How do I remove the existing padding underneath the hood? Please advise.

Are you talking about the insulator pad that is pinned into the inside of the hood? If so, it is attached by about 8-9 plastic push rivets. You need a forked screwdriver (the kind the use to take door panels off) and those plastic retainers will pop right out

Just pull/pop off the retainer clips. You may or may not be able to reuse them as they are pretty flimsy. They are cheap enough to replace if needed.

Many thanks for the quick reply. if I have to where can I get the retainer clips to replace them? The dealer? How about an auto parts store or Eckers?

I used a barbeque fork to pop them off. There's 15 of them. I bought replacements from the dealer and if I recall, they were about $.50 each. There's a guy on Ebay that sells 15 of the chrome coated plastic ones for $30.

The stealer has them relatively cheap ... .You should be able to re-use them just fine though
