I have two relatively stupid questions regarding headers and performance in general. Do headers inhance the sound of the exhaust? How much HP gain can you get from headers and what is a good option? I had a vararam intake on my old ZO6 and it seemed to make a slight difference. What do you guys think about the Vararam. I just bought an 04 Z16 and I am considering some mild performance upgrades. Any input would be great.

Header do enhance the sound of the exhaust specially catless headers... You can see anywhere from 20-35rwhp from headers and a good tune. The vararam is a great intake you should add that to your z16 and a set of LG or American Racing longtubes and u wont be dissapointed.
I'd go American Racing Series headers and a Callaway CAI. I have the second half of that combo and will be doing the pipes this winter. I agree with the tip on the tune after you do the mods - just wait until they're both in your car. Neither mod alone would justify the tune but both would, IMO.
I have the Kooks 1-7/8" L.T Headers & I love them!! I wouldn't recommend the 1-7/8's unless you have forced Induction or a good amount of engine work done. 1-3/4" would suite lightly modded cars alot better IMHO. *As everyone else said....You have to get a good tune In order to get the most out of your upgrades. For stock/slightly modded cars a predator(Diablo) will work for 99'+ cars I believe, but your probably just better off with a Dyno Tune. I hope this helps a little.. Good Luck~CHRIS
