Default Door lock module - last GMPP claim

As I type this salt trucks are cruisng around near my home... My GMPP expires on 11/30, but I got one claim in for my door lock module.

Just like others have experienced, my C5's driver door would not always lock or unlock electronically (via fob or door switch). I could hear the relay contacts, but they were carboned up and did not always make the circuit to the solenoid.

Mr. Goodwench ordered me a new module under GMPP. I removed the original and brought it in, took the new module home and installed it - all better . Mr. Goodwrench made 1.1 hours for nothing, but my mechanic is a good guy, and he always treats my C5 as if it were his own pride and joy.

Anyway, my GMPP cost somehwere around $700, but I only got one new door lock module during the 6 years, so that was a pretty expensive part. On a lighter note, the C5 has been very reliable (knock on wood) and the most fun I could ever have with my clothes on.

One last funny note... the module was assembled in Mexico. I opened up the defective one to peek inside and it smelled like body odor (like a sweat shop!)... pretty funny actually. Mr. Goodwrench got a kick out of that too!

See you guys on the road in spring 2007. Now that the warranty is done, it's time to do some minor modifications... new sway bars, shocks and maybe a new aluminum tunnel plate .

As with any extended warranty, you take your chances as to whether you will get your money back out of it in repairs or whether the company made a nice profit off of you. At least you had the peace of mind that if something had broken, you would have been covered.

Good luck with mods you are planning.

I'd be terrified without warranty...the slightest thing that goes wrong could cost big bucks...I got over $7,000 worth of parts and labor on my '95(extended warranty was $2400 at the time) and it seemed like it was only small stuff(calipers, water pump, distributor, wheel bearings, emergency brake cable, window regulators,etc)...no drive train items

Warranty = peace of mind
Added benefit = they pay if it breaks
