Default Chicagoland Header Question

I'm contemplating installing a Dynatech Supermaxx system on my 99.
The car runs flawlessly and I'm concerned about creating maintenance issues, mostly emissions. Anyone have any opinions on the reliability issue in general. (Increased heat in the cockpit etc.) I have heard stories of burnt O2 sensors. Anyone in northern IL have any problems passing the IL OBDII State Test. Did the high flow cats cause any concerns? Thanks in Advance.

I have the Supermax kit, and if installed properly, it should not cause you any reliability issues.
Now, with the hi-flow cats, this will cause your computer to throw a code due to the fact that your rear O2 sensors will read different due to the hi-flow cats not getting hot enough and making your front and rear O2's read differtnly. This will not cause you any Performance problems, or running problems,,, but you will not pass IL emissions with this code and the check engine light on for OBDII

You have 2 options

1- you can buy O2 sims here on the forum, you just plug them in and they will read like stock and not cause the computer to throw codes,, however some people have had reliabliltiy issues with them not working. They are about 100 bucks a piece

2- you can take your car to a professional tuner in or around chicago,, (FLP in Naperville is the best IMO) and they can dyno tune your car, and turn off your Rear O2 sensors, and you will pass emissions with flying colors, this will cost anywhere from 150-500 bucks depending on how much tuning you want or dyno pulls

I did number 2 because I ended up doing more performance mods, cam , heads so I had to tune the car. I just passed emissions a few weeks ago with no issues.

Good luck

edit- also realize you'll only have emissions every 5 years or so depending on the year car, my car is an 01 and I just got the notice this year,,, I ran the car with headers and no tune for about 2 years before I had to worry about emissions
