I am a recent owner of a 04 Z06, and I must say is everything I thought it would be!
But as far as the Bose stereo It kinda sucks. The clairity is very good, but I have next to no base even with the **** all the way up. Would this mean bad speakers or do I need a sub?

Thanks for the help,
I'm with you. The Bose is not nearly as awesome as the one that came with my '96 Z28. From what I've heard, the Bose stereo in the C5's has not had rave reviews..
I've got plenty of base ('02 coupe) but what you're listening to makes a BIG difference, like CD's vs FM vs XM/Sirius. Some CD's are better quality than others, some artists record with less base than others, some FM stations are clearer than others, XM sound is somewhere between FM and AM. I just got the Pioneer Inno for XM radio and it stores MP3's which sound excellent compared to XM or FM radio and some CD's.

I can understand what you are talking about (and I'm 58) I too felt the Bose in my '02 came up a little short. The Bose in my new '06 Altima sounds "better" but is STILL a "factory" unit. But agree with the earlier poster. Alot of what my ears want to hear depends on the mix and quality of recording. And for that matter what music you listen to.
upgrade to a woofer if u want nice bass the factory set-up is ok you have an eight inch woofer in each door.
you can go on ebay there is a company that sells a plug that you can wire directly to your factory radio to run an amp and sub without losing your bose amps and factory stereo.
i too have the bose blues! my radio in my f-250 bone stock is better. i ran a code check and found 2 history codes on the radio, i re-set them and it was amazing how much better it sounded. it still isnt a spectacular radio system that you would expect in such a spectacular car. does anybody know what the part is called on the ebay item in the prev. reply? thanks
same here.. one thing about bose is the design uses the acustic tubes and air waves to direct sound. look at the odd speakers they use and you will understand they try to use directionals to better the sound and it makes the clarity great in the car. but does not provide the THUMP, THUMP outside the car like the kid's car's with the big amps and subs. inside my 2000 the thing can shake the
**** out of the mirrors with the right music. its not the loudest stereo by far. but the clarity is pretty darn good all the way up to its limits with no crackling or fuzz. that is what bose is designed to do, perform with good sound thru its limits.
Might be something wrong with your stereo, mine has alot of base...
Get the Linkin Park 'Meteorica' CD and see how it sounds. That CD will exercise your system in a nice, easy to listen to way. And be sure to set the auto-equalizer controls to Jazz or C&W.
