Ok guys last week I posted a thread about me being at the track on last Sunday. Today I went to the track with a hope to get my 2003 Zo6bone stock with a zip-tie mod and drag radials into the 11s. This is my 3rd time at the track since owning the car and now I have about 17 passes on the car. My best run last week was a 12.1 with the same set up and almost empty on gas. The weather was almost the same as this Sunday but a little better last time.
This time around the weather was 55F Sunny with 43% Humidity. I dont know if it makes much difference but this time around I had a full half tank of gas more than last time. I tried to burn as much as I could on the way to the track but I did not want my car to get too hot staying up on the rpms. I used the same 18psi in the BFG DRs on the stock 18inch wheels. I achieved my goal I hit a 11.9 on my second run and after that I kept hitting 12.0. After the first 2 or 3 runs my clutch did not feel good at all and started to get sticky. I replaced the clutch fluid not that long ago, so I decided to give up and head home. I achieved breaking into the 11s just like I was hoping for a week to do. Im very happy and want to thank all you guys for the tips and responses to my other thread.
Here are the slips of all my runs. I took some time inbetween each one for the clutch to cool down but some of them are really close on timing. OHH AND YES IM CAR NUMBER 417
What the heck is going on with your 1/8th mile speed? They must be having some serious issues with their timing equipment on that lane at that particular section?

Congrats!!!1
Nice job. I'm especially glad you were NOT worrying about your reaction times. I'D suspect you'd go a bit lower with a few more passes under your belt & some tweaking to your launch & shift point/shifting technique!!
Thanks a lot guys. i still got to practice on some things but that run definetly made my day.
Steve as for the 1/8th mile I have no clue, I didn't even pay attention to that I was so focused on my 60ft and trap speed. I have to ask my friend who was running his car how his speed is on the 1/8th mile. Thanks for taking the time to review the slips.
I wish I could get my short times down like that -
Thanks for posting the slips.
best regards -

Hey mqqn,
Thanks a lot for the comment. I think if the car is capable of running 11s anyone could run them just with practice. I wish i could be a consistant 11 this season with a stock Z, next year however I'll experience with bolt-ons and hopefully will be a consistant 10 second car. Best of luck to you.
I like to run with about a half tank of gas myself. I seem to get better 60 ft times. Figuring about 6 lbs per gallon, half a tank is only about 40 lbs or so.

Hi KAMIL -
Since I just live in the Peoria area, i'll be sure to drive up and meet you at the track next spring to pick up some tips -
Thanks a bunch to all you guys for some great feedback. Hearing this does not make me think that I'm a terrible driver anymore. I look at the best drivers here on the site and am amazed of their skills behind the wheel. I love drag racing ever since I got my first car (Pontiac GTP) I started drag racing, I never owned a rear wheel drive car in my life my past cars were all front wheel drive and now current Z is the only rear wheel car I ever had. I love how much better it is to drive this car and be amazed with what people ran stock with it. Once again I want to thank you for all the support I did not hit 11.7 or 11.8 like some guys on here do, but I'm really happy from the response i got back from you guys.
To share some of the love, I ran an 11.95 at Byron that same day with a similar setup to yours (SLP Blackwing, Magnaflow catback, 17" ET Street DR's) These cars are just awesome!

Wow man great Job. Awesome driving how were your 60ft?

Best 60' of the day was a 1.69, the 11.95 pass was a 1.70 60'.
I was a little slow on clutch release, though, so I burned it up to the point my clutch pedal was sticking when I downshifted to turn off onto the return road. I talked to Ranger and he said I was probably not letting the clutch out fast enough. The car smelled like burnt clutch for about 10 minutes after each run.
With a little better driving we should both be able to dip a few more tenths into the 11's
Good luck!
