Default Tire Repair

Lucky me! I picked up a nail today (DS/R) free of charge. I work at a Chrysler dealership with full service bays so I got them to do the repair (non run flats). They came back and told me that they can't fix the tire because they are Z rated and there would be some liability issues, I guess they are worried about separation. I told them that it would be highly unlikely that I would be going 150 mph and to leave the separation issues to Quebec and the rest of Canada. So my question to CF members is should I be worried about the repair. I've had it done twice before on my front and other rear 6 months ago with no problems as of yet. Thanks gals/guys.

As long as the hole is not in or by the sidewall I would repair it. I have done mine and haven't had any problems. Just get a good shop to do it.

If it's in the tread area and done correctly, patched and not plugged, Goodyear says the speed rating is not affected. This is good for one repair only.

I would have them do a plug and patch repair and I don't see why you would have any concerns. I've had the repair done to a few tires before and never had a problem in normal driving conditions.

I agree as long as the tire is removed from the rim and they do a hot patch from the inside you'll be good to go, also that its on the flat surface not the side wall

Thanks people. It was fixed from the inside so I guess I shouldn't be worried, but the other two repairs that I mentioned were not but like I say, they've lasted this long so I think I will be okay.
