I had a lead on a friends vette in my...MGB...he was in my rear view mirror, I had it down hard, I turned forward as I was approaching a side street stopsign...I turned back to the rearview mirror and he was gone. I heard a monstrous noise beside me and turned to see him in front of me. DAMN
It was in the mid '80's. A good friend of mine happened to also be a salesman at the local Chevy dealer. He came by the house one evening with a brand new C4 A4 vert. We live in an area with some straight and winding back roads close by. I was the passenger for awhile and that part was alright, but when it was my turn to drive, I couldn't believe it. That car cornered so flat and drove so well, it was like driving a big go cart on the street. We had a ball.
So now I've been the proud owner of an '87 4+3 coupe since '98 and I do see a C5 MN6 vert. in my future.
I'd like to thank the poster of this thread. Its been fun reading all the responses.
When I was about 16 I borrowed my friend's '63 split window. (And his girlfriend, who was in the passenger seat at the time.) Seems I neglected to tell him I was going to do that.
It was 1955, I was just out of Design School, had my first real job, and was looking for a new car. My Dad, who had recently purchased a new Chevy sedan, said I should go to the dealer and look at a car he had there.
Well, there it was sitting in the dealer's showroom front window gleaming under the lights. Needless to say, it was love at first sight. Fortunately for me, 1955 Corvettes weren't selling well, so I got a super deal.
