HI
I have an auto 01 with Corsa x pipe and touring package, rest of exhaust is stock - trying to find out what type of headers to purchase. Would like long tubes, dont know what to expect at the rear wheels or what else is required. Would like straight bolt on - have lift to do it with and lots of tools, just cant find an answer about the headers
I have read about the senors keeping them straight, plugs, wires, etc. Prefer not to rip the car apart to install these if i get them on.
The Dynatech Supermaxx complete package is direct bolt on and was a fairly easy install.
There are pleny of threads discussing what the best header package is, what ones are easiest to install, which are cheapest, etc. - just do a search and you will find tons of info.
The Supermaxx package will provide long tube headers, high-flow cats, and an x-pipe. If you did this you could probably sell your Corsa x-pipe here on the forum to relieve some of the package cost. From there back you keep what you have.
go to C5 tech or C5 general forum and search that forum for "header install" , "best headers" or similar strings and that will provide a bunch of results.
Experience I had with my recently installed headers:
Mine just went in last weekend and zero problems to report. They were a little tight going in on the passenger side, but after a bit cussing and smoking a cigar they slipped into place. For some reason they settled a little bit after some driving and began to rattle on the passenger side heat shield along the torque tube, but a little pry bar persuasion and the heat shield is not a problem any more. Also the jet hot coating stinks pretty bad when it's first burning in, but is getting less noticeable every day. So far I haven't had any check engine lights due to the high-flow cats, but am either adding sims or deleting the rears from the system when I get tuned just to be safe. Good luck!
I too have the Dynatech headers with Corsa Touring exhaust. I had the X pipe too and sold it here on the forum because its not needed with the header package. The headers come wtih their own X pipe.
i went with LGM pro long tubes, replaced everything to the cat back, including swaping the cats with high flow ones, did this in my garage by myself, pretty straight foward as mentioned earlier check out www.ls1howto.com everything was a direct connection with band clamps, pick up around 25 rwhp prior to the tune
