Borla X pipe installed today
Had it done at the local muffler shop...turned out to be a great idea. Borla claims 'direct bolt on'...that's a laugh! Good thing I didn't try this at home. First off, the stock H pipe has to be cut off at just the right distance from the cats. Next, the Borla pipes did not line up with the stock pipes...needed some real coaxing by the tech. He looks at the welds on the X pipe and notices some pinholes! No problem...he welds 'em shut. Next, 2 of the fastener joints that attach the pipe to the car are a real bitch to thread into the mating part...had to prop up the system with stands to get them to align. Finally, it took both of us to align my B&B tips perfectly after all this messing around. I just can't imagine anyone being able to accomplish this while laying on their back under a vehicle. Cost was $60 and took all of an hour to get done. My advise....don't try this at home! Oh, the ride home was delicious! I like the new tone...very exotic, not over the top...good combo I have going now.
