Default car problems-just ranting

I just need to vent my frustrations. Took my '04 for an oil change at my local dealer and they supposedly have an excellent corvette mechanic there. They come back and tell me that my left rear is leaking and to leave the car, which I did. I know that's a problem with c5's. Then I take my '02 to The Best mechanic, who is in our club, for an oil change; I don't let anyone else touch this car because of all the ground effects and afraid of them damaging something. I had to let the dealer do the rear because it's under warranty. So when my '02 is on the lift, he tells me that this one is also leaking on the left. So now I have to take it to the dealer for extended warranty repair. Also I see that my splash guards in the front are both cracked in half and the paint is rubbed off the bottom and some where you can see it. This is not a good day. Anyway, when I pick up my '04, I notice that my bezel around the temp guage has fallen off and laying up against the needle. When I drive off the lot, I felt a very slight vibration when my foot is on the gas pedal. Then when I apply my brakes at a traffic light, I hear a flapping noise from under the car and when I took off slow , the noise was there again until I picked up speed. What the heck is this all about. Now I hope they will take my car in first thing in the am and correct whatever the mechanic did to it. I think you have to remove the center console in order to remove the guage console to reglue the bezel? I wonder what that will cost. I'm sure that was just a coincidence with the bezel falling off, but why all of these problems at once. I have a real bad headache right now. Sorry for the long rant.Oh, I forgot to mention that for some unknown reason it's takes me about 15 minutes to get my car out of my driveway because the front splash guards are scraping bad and I don't know why all of a sudden. I've been pulling this car out of my driveway for 5 years with very little problems, mostly with the ACI spoiler rubbing. What's going on?

Wow, those warranties really are a great deal, huh?

Sorry for your troubles.

I was thinking the same thing.
I would NEVER take my Vette to the dealer.

I've got warranty on my car also but am so reluctant to take it in for any type of service, warranty or otherwise because of all the horror stories I've read about here. Man, I sure hope they straighten everything out for you.

Damn, you did have a very bad day. Hopefully the dealer will get the problems fixed and you can once again enjoy the car.

Doug,

A couple of thoughts:

1. Ouch, unfortunately w extended warranty the car must go back to the dealer. Perhaps try a different dealer if you "Can't Get No Satisfaction".

2. I am also in Bel Air area, w a brother who is an excellent mechanic, non-dealership, however.

3. You may want to consider trading one of those puppies up to a C6 model. Check the C6 Forum. There are some awesome deals right now.

Here's hoping you get things straightened out,

Rickman

Be happy, you have two Vettes and even though you are having some problems think about the poor guy with no Vette. They will get fixed

You're right, I'm happy and fortunate enough to have two vettes, and things are much better today. The rapping noise on the '04 was the brake cable that came loose and was slapping against something underneath; so that's fixed. The '02 goes in Monday and I hope they take extra care with the ground effects. Thanks for the responses.

Also remember that you did make a good choice to get the extended warranty. The rear seals are going to cost close to 800 bucks to fix which will probably pay for a lot of the warranty.

I was told by the two vette mechanics that itwould cost about $250 to $300 for the repair, out of warranty.

Just updating my on-going car saga, the stealership fixed the left leaking rearend of my '02. So when I'm walking outside to take my car home, I notice the left borla twin exhaust pipes are slanted bad. When i got to the car , I checked the tunnel spoiler that's under the pipes, and that was extremely loose. They had to remove the exhaust and spoiler to work on the rear end leak. So I went to the service writer and told him I had two problems and he paged the mechanic. after 45 minutes the job was done right. Why didn't he do the job right to begin with? Now i get the bezel job done this Friday. Now today I took my minivan for a routine oil change and later they tell me they had to hotshot it to get it in the garage. So I bought a new battery for it. What's next with my cars? Well at least my wife won't get stuck out with a dead battery.
