Guys, I bought my 03 Z06 about 3 months ago. Since then, I've installed LG headers with no cats, and a Vararam intake
I have also installed insulation (Exotic corvette) throughout ALL the interior along B-Quite sound insulation.
I just got back from my buddy's shop after installing B&B Bullets, and not only do they sound GREAT but I have NO DRONE. The interior sound is like having Magnaflows with no isulation.
I highly recommend these mods for anyone with Bullets.
Next, Ill take a trip to get it tuned here in Tampa. Will post the results for you guys later.
Insulation? You would want to give me some detail on this process would ya??:o
I am interested as well. I have the bullets, sound mean as hell, but it's not fun cruising on the highway having to wear ear plugs (yes, they are that loud)
I'm swaping out the Magnflows to a set of Bullets on Tues. Will have stock manifolds Magnaflow X and Bullets > How loud will it reallyy be?Have a Drone or none like his?
The insulation I purchased is precut. Exotic vettes have it for approx $250.00. You need to gut the interior out. That's not that hard to do. They have easy directions you can follow. After that is done, you lay down some B-Quite sound insulation by spraying some glue. Lay it on the front floor boards, and side walls of the console, also on the trunk area and around and side of the rear wheel humps. Then place the carpet and seats and console back together. I also purchased a partition which helps with the sound.
That's all. Like I said; LG headers, No cats and Bullets = Great Sound and no drone or headaches. While driving you will notice that's it's load OUTSIDE but no louder than magnaflows without insulation inside.
I used FrostKing, a duct insulation ordered from Home Depot. Honestly, I didn't notice much difference after insulating the hatch area. I didn't do the cabin. But I also stuffed regular fiberglass home insulation in the cavities behind the wheel well covers, and the difference was pretty dramatic. The wheel well and hatch area are probably synergistic, but I did the hatch first ... not sure if wheel well alone would be sufficient.
It's quite a bit of work and involves several hours to do properly. But it's also pretty cheap. The entire thing cost me just over $100.

FK here, hatch and cabin. Just remember to put on gloves!!!
I think the heat insulation throughout the entire car helps, but what makes the big difference is the B-Quite insulation. It's made in Canada and I did the entire car with it also. That cost me around another $250 But man! it makes a big difference!

Polo---thanks for the info--back to adding more parts now . When does everyone find time to drive their cars if they are always working on them???

RocketDawg: Thank you and it will be on my car too if it makes it thru the DMV --if not it's back to the drawing board . I wonder if I am handy enough to do this project---removing everything sounds pretty hefty---do I have to take the seats out to??
Yeap, seats go out. But that is all easy. Exotic corvettes give you very good step by step instructions. You will also need to purchase some good duct tape and some glue spray from Home-Depot.

Luckily I have the "vette in drag" as my DD. I know ---what the hell is that?? Right beofre Carlisle my husbands car started acting up---took it to my mechanic (a vette and camaro guy) he thought he had it fixed and called us to come get it---well it wasn't fixed and he teased my husband that it was all his fault the car just didn't like him---go away and call tomorrow---it was getting VERY close to Carlisle weekend and we were afraid we were going to have to take the DD (my 05 Corolla) so we named it the vette in drag in case we had no choice---our own little joke..Yes---it was ready in time..
But still how big of a project is this---sounds like I will be just waiting until I put her to bed for the winter and work on it then..I guess there is an upside to havingto park it for 3 months...
BTW---you drive your in the winter? Doesn't GA get snow?? I guess a couple bottles of V8 (the fruit juice) and some vodka will help get the work done..

I can't thank you enough for all the info. Working on these cars today is sure not what us "backyard mechanics" used to do (mickey mousin chit used to work back then but these are too nice of a car to pull that crap with)---and I want this one done right..
