Default flying parts

While aggresively upshifting my 2006 Z06 (second to third @ 60 mph) noise and parts came out of the rear end. I think it was CV joint related, since I hold in my hand a nice looking bearing (plenty of grease) that I found on the ground once I finaly stopped the car.

The noise was like nothing I have heard before from a car. It sounded like I smashed a pile of glass bottles under the car. When the tow arrived (thanks GM) the light was limited, and all I could see was a lot of grease.

I have heard mention of a CV or axle problem in this model due to the HP. The problem was at the right rear.

have any other unhappy Owners faced this dilema? The Dealer is closed for the holiday weekend, and I won't have any real info until next week. I am just concerned that it is fatal. My car just turned 1500 miles.

Sorry to here about that. However, you'd be better served posting in the C6 Z06 section.

Here is the thread with all the gory and greasy details: C6Z06 Rear End Issues

The good news is that the lastest part...ending in 1870 (Chevy's fourth attempt with this part in MY 2006) is not breaking, even under hard usage...so long as the owner refrains from making the car wheel hop on launch or the shifts.

similar aggressive shifting in my 06 Z06 lead to the clutch plunger becoming part of the road. Clutch was stuck on the floor could not even feel it with my foot. Had a similar expeence Monday with my 07 Z06 the clutch was stuck for perhaps 2 seconds before it engaged. Best of luck with it keep us posted.

The lessons drawn from your woes should be two:

(1) the LS7 clutch has a personality that you must accommodate. It does not like to be slipped on launch or the shifts. If you slip it the pedal will alway protest like that.

(2) pedal woes on shifts can be successfully avoided by keeping the clutch fluid very clean and fresh. Here is a thread to read: Clutch Pedal Woes--Fluid Impact
