Default IPOD2CAR Help

I just bought a IPOD2CAR adapter from Bestbuy $149. But I have no changer in my 2001 coupe and I am at a loss as two where to plug the cable in at. I asked the guy at bestbuy if this would fit my vette and he said yes but where? Also I have read that the cd cable might be somewhere in the footwell but I could not find it. Also there is no cable in the trunk. Let me know guys I have to take a 8 hour trip on friday and I would like my tunes please......

Default Ipod2car

I didnt have a cd changer cable in my 04 either. What you will have to do it get an additional cable that will plug directly into the back to the bose stereo unit. I ran my cable under the console and came out of the console door. Email me if you want more particulars about it. I know your frustrations, but once you get everything you need and know how your going to do it, it will go fast and sound awesome.

There are 2 small cables located in the passenger footwell, sorry I don't have pictures. They are cleverly hidden, but they should be there.

I connected my IPOD2CAR directly to the back of the factory bose deck, there are adapter cables available. My writeup at http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...post1553872918 has pictures & details.

Good luck!

As stated above, you'll have to get one more cable. The iPod2Car is designed to hook into the factory harness instead of the CD changer and is not designed to hook into the factory harness at any other point. Still one of the greatest mods I ever did to the car - nothing like replacing 12 CD's with 1200+....

Don't think so, not in an '01. My '02 had them, but I wasn't sure if it was going to. I wound up getting the added harness that connects to the HU and going at it that way. Worked out GREAT.

Maybe this will help. If your car was NOT equipped with the CD changer, you won't have the harness, but that's okay because you can use the PXHGM4 harness below. It works just fine.

And BTW, you don't need a charger with IPOD2CAR, it keeps the IPOD charged.

Corvette 1997-2004 PXDP PXHGM2 Trunk (Cars equipped with 12-CD Changer)
Corvette 1997-2004 PXDP PXHGM4 Radio (Cars NOT equipped with 12-CD Changer)

PXDP: If your vehicle is equipped with a factory CD changer, you must disconnect it in order to be able to install the interface. You will lose the use of the factory CD changer to gain use of your iPod.
PXDP: The iPod2car interface is currently not compatible with any factory external audio source such as: XM tuner, Any CD player or CD changer, or Cassette player. These devices must be disconnected during the installation and will no longer
function. You will lose the use of these devices to gain use of your iPod.
PXDP: If you are an experienced installer, you can retain XM. Please follow this link to the Tech Brief to retain XM:

If I can help any more, PM me.

They were there in my '01, but I used the GMH20T & PHXGM1 cables to connect directly to the factory deck instead.

What has to be disassembled to get to the back of the head unit to plug in the GMHT20?

Center console, and radio facia. If you have a a vert, you will need to remove the waterfall, before you can remove the center console. It will also help to pull the climate control unit, but that's a cinch once you've got the plastic out of the way.

Thanks.

I've got a new shifter that I want to install so I'll wait for my ipod parts to come in and do them both at the same time.
