Default Headlight motor problem

I was replacing the foglight bulb on my 99 and attempted to raise the headlight manually. Unknowingly, I turned the **** the wrong way and heard a pop when I turned it clockwise. Now, when I turn on the lights, they go up fine but when I turn them off, the motor runs for an additional 8 seconds after the cover closes. I guess I broke the stop gear... Is there a quick fix?

that's the noise that happens when a gear is stripped. it was probably ready to go when it happened so it's probably nothing you directly did.

easily fixed with a set of brass gears.

The pop was the gear teeth snapping under the pressure of trying to raise it while the arm was already pushed against the stop bumper.

I assume the brass gears are aftermarket...who should I contact?

Make sure you read the part about checking to see what version of the motor housing you have.

I bought a brass gear. The parts house recommends I remove the entire headlight assembly to have free access to the motor. Is that the best approach?
