Default fog light replacement

Is there a write up on how to replace a burnt out fog lamp? I did a search but could not really find any info.

Default fog light

GM Manual says take off the closure panel UNDER the fog light with about 6 screws. DON'T have to do that
Open your headlights. Take off the plastic shrouds with 3 small screws each.
REACH IN and twist COUONTERCLOCKWISE and then pull.

I used 885 bulbs (50 watt) not the 889 or 893 bulbs (37 watt) less than 5 bucks at local auto supply.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Re aim em too, they are probably too low.
Use a #15 torx and park near a wall or your garage door. Can't aim horizontally but just vertically. Use low beam headlights as a guide/ BIGHANK

Is it safe to switch to the higher watts? Any fire risk?

Good question. I wouldn't do it without knowing for sure.

Default fog lights

Mine have been in over 2 months. 37 watts draws about 3 amps 50 draws just over 4 amps. The wires look like #16 or so good for at least 10 amps. (Volts X Amps = Watts for DC) The bulbs ALL get HOT as H###. So I dont think the 885s do more than light up the road more.
I moved my 37 watt bulbs to my Montana which had 880 bulbs (only 27 watts) That made a difference too. Always run low beams with the fogs on. More people see me and I can see more. BIGHANK

I have been using 885 bulbs for over 3 years (all the time) with no problems. I aimed at bottom of low beam pattern. BIG IMPROVEMENT !
