Default cd player in a 2000

i'm looking at buying a red 2000 tonight and it has HUD and dual climate but only a tape player. Is it possible it has a 6 or 12 disc on the trunk or glove box or just a tape player?

Yes it's possible. Take the center piece off in the trunk and the changer will be in there if it has one. Hope this helps and good luck on the C5

That's what mine has. Tape (egh) in the front and 12 changer in the trunk. I wanna put a stock CD head unit in and also control my changer. Getting in the trunk to put in CDs is a pain.

My 2000 came with the casette/12 disk changer combo. I bought an AM-FM CD player (Ebay) and replaced the tape player head unit with CD player up front. It's "plug & play" The CD uses exacly the same connectors. Touching the CD button on the head unit toggles between the 12 disk changer in the trunk, or the CD player in the front. Wala 13 CD's Also for those interested: the 12 disk changer uses a Pioneer JD-T1212 12 disk magazine. It usually sells for less than 1/2 the cost of the GM/Delco magazine!

I did the same thing, bought one off ebay for $109 plus shipping from a 2004. It still had the plastic protector sheet over the display. The only thing unusual is you have to push the 5 key to change discs in the changer and it's not marked "next". But you can play in dash cd and control the changer as vetteman 1 said. Works great. This is the number on the one I bought that I know for sure works with the changer.09390211
