Hey everybody, I am considering purchasing a Vararam CAI, I am curious if this can be installed without a lift. I would like to do the install on my own but don't have access to a lift. Would ramps work just to get the front end up a little? Thanks for anyadvice you can give me?
I installed it by just jacking up the front end and putting it up on jack stands. It's good to have some clearance underneath so that you can work from the bottom when you install the snorkles to the back of the bumper. I had a friend helping me, which made it easy, as he held the pieces in place from above and I worked from the bottom. Much easier to align everything.
Have fun. It is definitely a seat of the pants mod worth doing.
...I used a socket wrench wedged between the snorkles and the crank pulley to hold mine in place while I went up top to do the completetion - that was a huge pain in the butt, having extra hands is highly recommended.
Make sure you have a sharp razor blade, dremel, or plastic cutter handy before you do the install. I had to make additional notches for the front screen retainers, and widen the holes for the fogs so that the VaraRam would line up half way straight (that was before I removed it in favor of a honker).
i didnt have to make any modifications to anything to install mine, guess i was lucky. there is also talk that you dont even need to screw the snorkles to the fascia. they hold themselves in place

No modifications either, guess iI was lucky also, or everone else just complains too much. No help, on jacks stands, 2-1/2-3hrs. I used the screws and the entire install wasn't as bad as some of the post would lead you to believe..
So has everyone felt a seat of the pants improvement in performance with it? Anyone do any actual 1/4 runs with differences in times before and after? Im torn between this upgrade or cat back for right now.

Please - anyone who is installing any of our units and experiencing a problem - call us at 866-507-2648 before you become frustrated!!!
We have techs here (and many helpful members on this forum) that will gladly help with any difficulty you may encounter. For the C5 ,Cajundude's write up is absolutely great and for the C6, Shocker Racing also has excellent advice!!! Take your time and the install of any unit should be relatively simple!!! Thanks Steve

I used Cajundude's write up, as well as the booklet that came with the vararam, no problems at all.
