Just had my 2000 C-5 with 37,000 miles serviced (not at dealer)
They recommended draining/flushing brake and clutch fluid.
Is this real or a gimmick for revenue flow for them???
thanks
If it's never been done, change them. You can drain the reservoirs yourself and just keep changing it often for a while or just pay and have them flushed. They use DOT 3 brake fluid which holds moisture. Just noticed yesterday the fluid in my '03 was looking pretty nasty.
Edit - The fluid should be clear or at least transparent in both.

There is a thread about sucking the clutch fluid out of the resevoir with a baster on a regular basis, thereby eventually replacing the fluid. While not perfect, not a bad idea either. Simple and cheap.

that would still leave the fluid at the bottom unchanged. i don't think the fluid cycles up and down the system, so it'll always be "dirty" at the bottom. doing exhaust work? flush it!

FYI, DOT 3 and DOT 4 brake fluid are hydroscopic (absorbs water) while DOT 5 does not absorb water. Dot 5 is good for use on surge brakes on boat trailers.
