Default New C5 owner...questions

A few questions:

1) Lights on dimming rear view mirror...they look like the are 6 LED's...4 orange and 2 blue? Is this stock?

2) Lots of little black specks on the rear facia after driving...normal due to the Flowmaster exhaust?

3) Memory setting remembers temperature on climate control? How bout radio?

Thanks in advance.

I believe the memory setting only remembers the seat and sterring wheel

1) I don't have that many LED's on mine. I certainly don't have any blue ones.

2) I get a fair amount of exhaust "stuff" on my tail, and I have a stock exhaust. I think it is a characteristic of the C5.

3) The memory settings remember the seats, the mirrors, the steering wheel, the climate settings, and the radio.

I suppose I should be a little more specific. I get a black film on my tail when driving. I usually associate that with exhaust, though it could be tire dirt - it's exactly the same kind of film that gathers right behind my tires.

Probably brake dust getting sucked up and sticking to the back. Everything sticks to the plastic, grass clippings, dust, must be static buildup. If it feels slimy, could be rear axle fluid dripping and blowing up on the back. Or it could just be exhaust. Nah, I vote for brake dust.

I knew what you where talking about. I was just playing.. I don't get much of anything back there.. That might be because I dust it after everytime I drive it!

Yeah, I tend to do a lot of dusting myself. I never thought about it being brake dust, though it accumulates faster than I would expect for brake dust. I suspect that it's from the tires or it's being kicked up by the tires.

Brake dust accumulates VERY quickly. I have to wipe it off my wheels and rear quarters after every drive. When I say "I have to", you know what I mean.

The rear of the C5 is a dust magnet.

And in case you didn't notice the two seperate key fobs have thier own identity so your wife/girlfriend if you allow them to have a set of keys can have thier own presets !!

What year do you have? I have a 2002, and there are no orange or blue LEDs on it.

Now you have to Zaino the car so that black stuff isn't attracted to the rear nearly as much. Plus the car will shine like it never has. And it lasts longer than anything I have ever used.

I'm with the program now. I just went out and took a closer look at my car. I knew that my mirror had lights that shine down on the console, but I never realized that they were composed of orange and blue LEDs.

So I change my answer to the original poster in that regard - I now have to say that your mirror is stock.

I love finding out little stuff like this.

Thanks guys!

Bill B.

nope....

From my owner's manual
"MEMORY can store and recall the settings for the
driver’s seat position, the outside rearview mirror
positions, telescopic steering wheel (if equipped), radio
presets, tone, volume, playback mode (AM/FM, tape or
CD), last displayed station, compact disc position and
tape direction and climate control settings."
