my 2000 C5 is the first corvette I have ever owned. I have learned a lot on this forum. However, there is still so much I do not know. I believe I have the z51 set up but how can I confirm this? also, is the column lock issue something that should be addressed now even if the problem hasnt arisen yet? Thanks in advance.
Look at the RPO sticker---should be either on the underside of the left rear compartment lid or on the glove box door. If you've got it, it'll be listed there.

If the steering wheel locks, you are probably needing the column lock bypass.
BTW, I just got back from JAX, it would have been nice to check out your car, even if we are arch enemies on the field...GATOR fan here.
I havent had a problem with the column yet, knock on wood. Any time you're in jax, let me know. I can overlook your being a Gator if u can overlook my FSU tag on the coupe.

The option sticker on the inside of the glove box door should have a Z51 option code printed on it if you have that option. And yes, get the column lock bypass even though you haven't had any problems.
You have a 2000 so the RPO Codes will be on the glove box lid. It should either say "Z51" or "FE3" they are both one and the same and mean Z51. Another way to find out real quick is to look under the hood and see if you have a powersteering cooler above your steering rack.
About column lock, when you take the keys out of the ignition and you hear an electric motor and your steering wheel locks, you DO NOT have an aftermarket column lock bypass kit or Chevy recall done.
Please do yourself a favor and get a CLB kit now even if your car shows no signs of any problems. I have owned 2 C5s and they never showed any problems either but I installed the kits anyway. I have seen enough carnage in 5 years over the forum and Column Lock always win
Now, on the other hand I have PERSONALLY seen many C5s ranging from 97 to 2002 where the column locked up all of a sudden. It takes one second for the car to give you a message "Pull Key Wait 10 Seconds" and 90% of the time thats the last message it gives you before it locks up. It has locked up on me (in a friend's car) 2002 coupe with less than 6k miles on it
Good luck and ask all the questions you want here. People are extremely friendly and will always help you
