I got a no front plate ticket this past weekend while my car was parked in a local public garage. Gotta love them meter maids. $99 FINE
Anyway....what I was thinkin was to install a front plate behind a transparent/smoked/tinted protector. I have a black car so a dark tint acrylic might not look too bad.
I've heard some police will and can still give you a ticket if the plate is covered up, even with a clear transparent lens, But with a smoked one you probably for sure would or can end up just as bad off. just my two cents worth.
Yeah, I know.....I just cant bring myself to installing a bright white plate on the front of my black vette. Its just not right. I wish we could get that law changed.
Any LEO's out there know why that law is on the books? Just curious.
i ran with my rear plate blacked out and had no problems, then one day a cop pulled me over for window tint, they will screw you if they want to, its up to you but i think they will be mor elienient than no plate at all and i think it will look cool

I'd agree, you'll probably get hassled just as much with the smoked cover over the plate as not running the plate. Two plates suck, but I've learned to grin and bear it.

Because its so difficult to get things deregulated. How many times in your life have you seen the speed limit RAISED somewhere? Maybe once back in the mid 90s?

Just this past year Virginia raised the speed limit on some sections of highway from 65 to 70 mph.

I was pulled over for having tented plate covers a few years ago. I got away with a warning but the LEO made me remove the covers on the spot.
If my state doesn't require a front plate but I travel in a state that does ,can they still ticket you?
Reciprocity policy says you need to meet the requirements of your home state (inspections, equipment, etc) and the other states let you alone. Ever wonder why almost all truck trailers are registered in Maine? Cheaper there, but recognized in all states. (I know I'm far off topic!)
I always thought it would be cool , James Bond cool, to have a front plate that you could flip a switch and it would either hide or be showing.
Can you imagine being pulled over and just as the officer is getting out of the car you flip the switch to expose the plate. "What you talkin bout officer?" "I have a front plate."
With all the great minds on this forum, I'm sure someone could devise such a working model for all of us to install.

I would pay good money for that mod. Anyone know a kid in college going for a mech engineering degree? Would make a good class project. Could make some good money too.
Am on my third vette and still not running with a front plate. Have been stopped at least a dozen times and in only 2 instances got a warning ticket. The front plate is always on the floor of the passenger side and I use the excuse that I'm going to or coming from a show. A couple of my friends do the same thing.
