Default Running hot, throw codes?

My 02 coupe started running hot today. Since I've got a 160 stat I noticed something was wrong pretty quick. Stays ok while cruising but heats up while sitting. Got to around 220 while sitting in the driveway and the fan never came on. And no, nothing is blocking the radiator, was the first thing I checked. My question is would it throw any codes so I could determine if its the motor or a sensor?

you should have fan faults if the fans have electrical problems[po480/490].if the car is ok as long as you are forcing air across the nose,it's not a mechanical issue.check for faults, blown fuses, faulty relays, bad connections, jammed fans, etc

Thanks for the info. Talked to the dealer yesterday and he said its probably the motor. Said there's no fuses, which I find hard to believe. Probably won't be able to get it to them until Tue. so was concerned about driving it until then. Probably shook something loose. Just got the Bullets on! Happy Thanksgiving.

Actually he was talking about the fan motor. Checked the 3 fuses you mentioned, all ok. The fans spin free, not locked up. The one on the right{passenger side} does come on when I turned thw a/c on but only for about 30 sec. which I thought was strange. Thought it ran all the time with the a/c on. The only reason I mentioned the dealer is because its still under the extended warranty but I'd rather fix it myself its only an easy fix.

Quick update. Both fans ran when a/c was on so that eliminates the fan motors. let it idle for awhile and the temp got to around 196 so I shut if off since neither fan came on. Don't know at what temp it should come on with the 160 stat. Going to get in contact with my tuner to see if he knows. Thanks for all your help. I'll try to leave you alone now since it is Thanksgiving!

Didn't check that yet. To be honest with you I've never done that before. Will have to dig into my paperwork for the procedure. Will let you know.
