Tire pressure sensors. No Lori (and yes Lori).

There is a forum guy (can't remember who) who had the batteries.

It is a collasal pita though given the work involved -vs- buying a new one.

Did you try to re-learn it first? sometimes that works.

Good luck,

-C

Well I was looking to buy 4 and the guy says one wouldn't program. I was only looking for a different set because we are ordering tires and wheels from Tom Z and I need to send the sensors to them. It's going to be a pita to have someone reomove the ones I have to send them out but looks like that is what I might have to do...

What is a throttle sensor???

The problem I see with sending the sensors off to get new batteries is logistical. You gotta take the car to a shop and have the tired unmounted to get the sensors (and integral valve stem) out. Then you have to send them off, wait some time (a few days ... weeks?) to get them back, then get them reinstalled. In the meantime, your car is still sitting on the rack at the tire store because you have no valve stems. Unless you want to put temporary ones in 'til you get the TPS ones back, then have the tire broken down once more. And mounting runflats isn't cheap, not to mention the risk of scratching the wheels.

Might be more convenient to just buy new ones, and maybe about as cheap.

Lori ... have you heard from the license plate censor yet?

Hi Rocketdawg,

I think you misunderstood what i meant or maybe I really am just blonde and didn't explain it correctly. My car is actually going to 2 garages within the next week---it will get the new oil pressure sensor and I just purchased a Bullet exhaust---once that is done it will be going to another garage where they will install my blackouts, ground effects and paint it. In the mean time we are purchasing a tire and wheel package from Tom Z's and they said if we sent the sensors to them they would install them for us as well--along with the balancing and such---so I was thinking of getting new ones to send to them but I am NOT paying 500 for sensors so we thought we might be able to find some cheaper here on the forum or online at that unnamed auction site..Anyway---mine do work---we just thought it would be a real PITA to remove mine and install regular stems so that we sould send these out but it looks like that might be exactly what we have to do..

yeah I did hear from them and I will be looking for a new plate. Nope my btchn didn't make it so---back to the drawing board. They did send me one (lky ldy) but I changed my mind and decided I wanted something with a little more attitude. I'll make sure I let you know what some of the top choices are as soon as I find that damn email list I made..

Thanks Rocketdawg..

Ha! All of that additional information must've been in another post that I missed. I can see your dilemma now, and those things are really expensive. If I recally correctly, a battery swapout would be about half that.

Too bad about the license plate turndown. They're awfully picky! And yeah, lky ldy just doesn't cut it.

Every time I see TPS, I think Thermal Protection System (the heat protection on the Shuttle, for example).

Took me a second to figure out why Lori wanted to change the batteries in her insulation ....

TPS are not $500.'s. You can get them for $76 to $78 bucks each NEW from a dealer, check Beans, plus new nuts. I wouldn't put new tires on new wheels that have old sensors. (97/ 98 /99 dates) Your asking for a headache somewhere down the line. That $330.'s is better spent than re-chroming a new wheel due to damage. Just my .02

Thanks Bill. I will have to check that our right away.. Much much appreciated. My husband was thinking the same thing and the cheapest I found them was at Corvette Garagce--they are 68 but that is for 01 an up---for my 99 you have to add which in the long run brings them to 106 before shipping..

You are spending a few bucks on your mods, the extra $$ for the new sensors is a no-brainer. We will be waiting for the pics. Is the paint going to be a custom color?

I have a question posted. Somewhere someone started a post that said "if you could change the color of your car". Someone posted this awesome color and called it metallic graphite. It is really sharp. I asked if anyone could get me the color code but noone has answered me on that---alot of people telling what color they would like but noone seems to know the color code. I can't find it on the paint code sites I have but while at the garage discussing everything we went and looked at his paint code books---they are GM and Dupont colors but I guess not necessarily "vette" colors. We found two pretty decent choices right now..

If anyone has any idea what the color code on this metallic graphite is let me know..

Thanks
Happy Thanksgiving to all..
