I just wanted to introduce myself to the Z06 forum. My name is Joel and I have been a member of the Corvetteforum since Dec. 2000 and with a recent purchase of a 2003 EB Z06 have become a C5 owner for the first time. My ZR-1 now has a garage mate and I must say I really like this car.
I am sure I will have loads of questions to ask those more familiar with this car in the near future. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and will be talking to ya'll reall soon.
Have a good one!
Joel
It is hard to compare the two. My ZR-1 is not stock and has been lowered 3 inches. It is loud and harsh to all senses but a blast to drive. The fact remains that is is 17 years old now.
The Z06 is very civil in my opinion. A real pleasure to drive. You can really tell that you are driving a low weight car. Seems to just love corners and feels very stable and smooth. I drove it 1,900 miles back home to Ft Lauderdale and it was very comfortable. The Z06 really gets up and moves for a stock car and seems to get better traction than my C4.
I like the fact that I have a Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde in my garage now. If I want a loud rough idiling beast then I jump into the ZR-1. If I want something more civilized then I have the Z06.
I am sure with some modifications I could make the Z06 a Mr. Hyde too but for now I think I will enjoy the duality of it all.
Congrats on the new ride! My ride is also an 03 and the LS series of motors is unbelievable, you can have the unreal power of Mr. Hyde and still retain a calm everyday driver. Enjoy the dual Vettes.
& good luck with your new toy. I'm in the opposite situation, as I would like to have a ZR1 in my garage. I bought & remodeled my first rental home this year, so there went $20+k Maybe next year, (which is getting very close), for the ZR1.
Thanks for the warm welcome. I have really been looking forward to getting in the car the last few days. The weather down here in South Florida has been perfect for driving.
