Default Halltech Throwing codes?

I installed my Halltech Stinger a few months ago, and ever since the check engine light has been coming on. I checked the codes and it is shows a 0171 and a 0174 (system too lean on both). Could this be caused by the Halltech? Please advise.

It's the two common codes that usually follow a change over to a aftermarket filter system. Many get them, I did intermittently with my BLACKWING filter system.
You should check the entire intake system for any obvious/not so obvious air leaks. It could be something as simple as a loose hose clamp. I found the clamp at the throttle body on my Z16 had puckered the hose.
If this check shows nothing, you can clear the codes in the DIC and wait to see if it returns, get a tune or just live with the annoyance. The computer can change fuel trim only within it's parameters by a certain percentage, that's why a tune would be beneficial.
Apparently, most occurances of these two codes occur at times when there is little load on the motor (I think that was the expert opinion of recent) and it's nothing to be really concerned about if there are no air leaks.

I'm going through the same thing, with the exception that I had absolutely no problem the first year, then the filter came lose from the MAF. I tightened everything up, reset the DIC and it was fine for a while. Now it keeps throwing codes even though everything is hooked up right.

Also, it's idling very poorly. I'm going back to A&A, let you know what they find.

I have my 02 with the halltech for 3 years and about 15k. I have only thrown codes once, it was 90 degrees out and 100% relative humidity.
The next day I looked at everything, cleared the codes and have yet to see any again. (this was summer 05)

I went through this on my 02 Z. Do like most said, check for leaks. But doing this still might not clear the code. Doing the cold air mod fixed my light from coming on. Since the 02 Z's MAF has no screen, turbulant air can cause those codes to pull up also. The cold air mod is basically a whole cut under where the filter sits. Allowing a straight shot of air to the filter, which kept my light from coming off. But even after that, I got a check engine light that said the MAF went out. Sometimes the oiled filters like K&N and the Halltech Warhead Filter on the Stinger will allow oil to build up on the MAF sensor causing it to go out. I just had to clean mine off and it's been fine since. But even after that, my filter still had a leak, but I didn't know that until I got my car tuned. My car pulled only 330hp! Checked for leaks, found one, fixed it, and it put down 378hp/376tq.

Cold Air Mod

I had the same problem with my '04. Did the cold air mod and it stopped. Still get the occasional lean bank code when it's humid but that doesn't happen much.

But aren't all Z06 MAF's screen less?

All aftermarket air filters cause leaning of the A/F due to air corruptions across the MAF. The screened MAFs will result in a 4-5rwhp loss. Lots of solutions, but the best one is to note at idle the % ofset of the maf airflow compared to stock and try to pick of points along the rpm path. You will find a trend of less airflow. Decreasing the inj size by this offset (forget now, but believe mine was around 10%) will fix the problem or you can proportionally change the MAF curve to represent the "right" amount of airflow. Either way, the problem is the new airbox. Yes, lots more air. and yes, not metered.

The 01's weren't, and there are a lot of other vette MAF's that are the same size and work perfect! Even the new 06/07 Z's are screened again. This is what the dealership did for me to fix the codes when I just recently bought the car with the Blackwing CAI on it!

Is it the same MAF for the LS6 as the LS1?
