After having all those vet problems fixed, then I had to have a battery put in my minvan, which caused my radio to lock up. Well, after two visits and one and a half hours wasted, the stealership informs me that I need a new radio and that they cannot unlock my radio(security code). Just for the fun of it, I checked their parts dept. and my mouth fell open: not counting tax and installation, the radio was $972 and that is with just a tape deck. I'm not paying that for an eight and a half year old car. Anyway, I found a local car audio place that will put in what I want for $200;it may not have a digital clock but that's ok. I'm not paying a dealer over$1000. Just ranting again!

Don't understand why a dealership can't unlock one of their own radios. They should have a procedure they can follow to do it if the code is unknown. Before you shell out $200 for a new radio, might want to give another dealership a call and see what they say.
I agree I work at a dealership and our radios have codes and all you have to do is call the man. and give them the serial number and then you get the code....Stop goin to that stealership!!!!!!!! Let me guess a Dodge Store??????
There is a guy on that auction web site that sells radios and HVAC controllers for much less than the dealership. He will also sell you a reconditioned one. PM me and I'll give you a link....
If the car, van,<raido> is of an older model, sometimes you can do a search on the internet on how to unlock them. Do a yahoo seach with the exact model of your radio(may have to pull it out to get the model number) I had the same problem and was able to get the code off the internet. Good Luck!

I had it to the pontiac dealer twice and they went by the manual and it would not unlock. I also tried the procedure in the car manual and it would not unlock. Thinking back, the digital numbers would sometimes fade out and you couldn't read them; I wonder if It was a problem that just finally came about.
