I would have to agree HID's are the best. They are also the most expensive. But HIR's are second best. They were developed to provide 75% of the light output of HID at 25% of the cost. But it's a lot cheaper than that. I've tried Sylvania Silverstars, and they were better than stock, but the HIR's are markedly better than the Sylvanias and actually produce more light, not just the create the perception of more light. In fairness, I did not try the new Sylvania Ultras, but with the success I have had with the HIR's which cost about the same as the Ultras, I'm done searching for the light. I've found all that I need. Buy them on "that" auction site. Search for Toshiba HIR. 9012's are the low beam equivalent to 9006 stock bulbs and 9011's are the equivalent to stock 9005 high beams.

For the cost they can't be beat. I would recommend running the 9011 bulbs in the low beam sockets for even more light. You do have to do the 9005 conversion steps in order to get the 9011 bulbs in the low beam sockets, but it is only a matter of trimming a couple of plastic tabs. I did this in June and love the increase in light!

That's what you're looking at in my photo. High beam (9011) bulbs in the low beam housings. No shortage of light. At all.
