Default Electronic Techie Question

I'm wondering what the difference between say a 2001-2004 remote fob and a 2000 fob would be? There's a huge difference between the price (like 10X more for the Y2K) If the difference is just a slightly different frequency, couldn't the cheaper fobs be tuned to work with a 2000 model? I'd like to pick up a newer fob if I can make it work with my 2000 As I understand it the 2000 fob is a one year only remote? Just wondering

Nope. 2001-2004 are not compatible at all with 97-2000. Everything is different 2001 and up. 97-99 have passive arming/dis-arming. 2000 is unique somewhat. 2000 is backwards compatible with the 97-99, but not sure if 97-99 work on the 2000. I use the 2000 on my 98 vert.

Here is a link to a running thread I keep on the FOBs when I find them on ebay. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1505018

I dont list them if they have less then 97% feed back. If you want a new one check with Fred Beans a supporting vendor. I thnk they are 89.00 or something.
Good Luck and Happy Holidays
