PRICES ?? now VS. Spring time
I've read a good deal about the prices shifting between different seasons. What would a nice 02 Z with less than 30k miles be worth now vs. it's value next spring when it's a year older. I'm guessing now is the time to buy correct. How accurate is Kelly Blue Book or any other publication on true market value of Corvettes. Thanks
I buy and sell used Corvettes from time to time on the side, and now is the time to BUY. I would say that you could pick up a Z06 for about 1-2K less than in the spring. The market is very soft right now. There are some great deals on Corvettes right now. Buyers market.

I agree about the buyers market. I had to take a nasty hit on my 99 car to get the money up for my newer car. I'm just wondering if my new car will be worth more in the spring than I'm paying now. If that's the case, I'll buy in winter and sell in spring to build up to a later models each year. Anyone else using that stratagy to step up each year?

Seems like it would be difficult enough to get back your 8% sales tax, let alone get ahead in the next deal..
Totally agreed. Forget that strategy unless you have a dealers license and can avoid paying taxes. If you have to pay taxes, I don't see it as a way to make any money.

However, that being said...I think you could legitimately make "some" money on reselling Corvettes by moving them from region to region, as there are very large inconsistencies in price across the country. As a case in point, I actively avoided buying a Corvette in the Pacific Northwest since Corvette prices seem considerably higher where I live. By purchasing a car from out-of-state, I probably saved $3k over what I would have paid locally, not to mention saving time. My travel and transportation costs knocked a bunch of that savings away too though.
There are definitely creative ways to make money buying and selling cars, but I doubt there are too many "get rich quick" ways of doing it.

From: im in COLD wisconsin for a few more years.... then to somewhere warm, with more Z days wi
if you do that.... what do u do with it? just drive in winter and go vette less all summer? wow, what a plan, and a "few years long" plan too.... just givin you some s*&t,
I think sellers who wait are going to be surprised. As prices for the new ZO6 come down(supply is catching up with demand already) there will be more buyers opting for the C6 and therefore more trades. That means more C5s on the market. The new Camaro is coming, too. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
BTW, I think edmunds.com is a lot more accurate about the current true market value of the ZO6. Kelly Blue Book shows different prices online than in the actual books that the banks get.
I think az55 is onto something. I'm not personally convinced we'll see prices recover in spring due to the same types of reasons. C6 Z06 prices are finally coming down, and now that quite a few have been built, we'll see more used ones trading hands too. The supply and demand curves have definitely crossed a bit on that car, and it will definitely impact C5 Z06 prices in my opinion. All we can do is take good care of our C5 Z06's in the meantime, and enjoy the hell out of them!

I'm a salesman at the Chevy dealer and sell alot of Corvettes too, from basicly now through the winter Is when the prices come down a bit because most people buy In the spring so they can have their Vettes for the warm season. It's mostly used that come down, but we take $ off the new as well to get them out the door.
Best of luck, I hope you get a great deal~
