I want to ask the experts (you guys). I was looking at swapping my throttle body and intake. I was looking at swapping it to an LS2 setup (hoping it is possible), but I don't know if an LS6 setup would perform better for my situation. Or possibly a FAST 90
I have a pretty much stock LS1 1998 motor with a high flow power duct and smooth coupler. I also have a dual flow cold air intake. Let me know what your opinions are on this.
Throttle bodies are the one and the same. LS6 will get you a couple of ponies over the LS1. For the money, I would get a Cold Air Intake rather than an intake manifold. Something like a Vararam or Vortex Rammer would be a better use of money IMO.
Another vote for an LS6 here, unless you are going to build some kind of big cube monster motor, you won't be needing a fast or an LS2, and may end up having too much air.
Funny I was just asking my mechanic, CORVETTE Mechanic for over 30 years and I asked which intake flowed better, the LS2 or LS6. The LS6 is a better flowing intake between the two. LS2 is a step up from the LS1, but out of the two the LS6 is better.
There was a flow test done on here recently and the LS6 intake manifold flowed the best, followed by the LS2, and then LS1. The LS2 throttle body is larger, however.
Seems to me everybody missed your question altogether. You asked about the LS2 TB. It's a 4 bolt design, and won't fit on your present manifold, which is 3 bolts. To use this TB, you need to either use a LS2 manifold, or a FAST, or a couple of other brands.
I really appreciate all of your input. I will be looking at teh LS6 instead. With regards to ponies vs. $$, what would be the most cost effective step for me to increase horsepower from where I am at? Any input on this would be great since some of you seem to think that investing in an intake and throttle body might not be what I should be looking at.
