Car Raffle Winner Question

Use NADA to determine value. Just because somebody at Barrett-Jackson will pay $100,000 for a similar car, that does not mean it is really worth that. If you register it as a street car, and drive it on the street, it is no longer a collecter car. The value plummets.

best advise yet. They say its worth 100,000 to sell tickets. At the Barret auction could happen. But I would think Nada and KBB value is all they can tax you on not what someone says its worth.

When he takes delivery of the car, he will probably be asked for his social security number. The folks that gave the car away will then put a value on it and have to report it to him on a 1099 at year end. He should ask the people who giving the car away as to what value they have placed on it. They can also verify to him that they will be reporting the value to the IRS> Hope that helps

If he wants to avoid all taxes it's pretty simple. Donate it to my favorite charity (me) and I will take care of all the taxes. Seems pretty simple to me, want my contact info?
