Default Tire pressure sensor upgrade

Anyone know what it takes to upgrade a 99 to use 01-04 Tire Pressure Sensors ? What has to be swapped out or reprogrammed ?

I think it would be cheaper to purchase the correct sensors at $76.'s each, than all the computer swapping you would have to do.

If the're not 97 to 2000 sensors they won't work on your 99.

That's a big 10-4, good buddy!

You HAVE to use the 1st generation sensors with your '99.

If it's that great a deal - have a reputable tire shop swap your old sensors (assuming that they work) with the new ones, and sell the new ones here or on that auction site. The whole tire doesn't have to be removed, someone who knows how should just have to break the front bead, and swap sensors. You won't even have to have the tire rebalanced, but it might not be a bad idea, considering that the old sensors are bigger and probably slightly heavier than the new style sensors.

Well with it costing $325.44

To replace my 99 Sensors, I was curious as to what would have to be swapped out to accept the $30 sensors for the 01-04 series

Probably cheaper to just get the right sensors. At a minimum I would think that you would have to get a different TPS receiver in the car. With the sensors lasting up to 8 years, it's not an expense that you have to make very often.

I'm faced with replacing all 4 sensors on my 00 coupe when I replace the tires in the rims. Where's the best place to get them at a reasonable price. I know in the past Fred Beans has been mentioned... who is the contact there now?

The receiver is different on the 97-2000 as are the sensors. They are not interchangeable..........

The instructions I saw on the CF seemed pretty involved and did not seem easy to reverse for a second time.
Too bad GM didn't make this a simple swap out battery

I believe the best price can be had from Bob (a Forum Vendor, so don't forget the corvetteforum discount) at House of Wheels, www.houseofwheelsonline.com
