Im just bought a z06 air box and would like to switch it with my stock 99 one. ive read a couple other posts on how to take the original one off but cant seem to understand with out some pics.
Can anyone help with some instructions and possibly some pics?
I switched mine and it wasn't hard. I don't have any pictures. Either contact the seller or just look at what you have and take your time. There's nothing to mess up that I recall.
Mike, Loosen clamp at air bridge, pop your two release handles on air box and wiggle the two bottom gromments off the bottom of the air box. Should come right off.Hope this helps.>George
Sometimes it is hard to get the air box off the pegs in the front that it hooks into. I think the pegs come down from the top and the air box needs to be pushed down off them. Once you do it it is easy.

Did you buy the whole box or just the Z06 lid? If the box, follow the instructions above. If just the lid (which will fit on the stock box without removing the lower part of the air cleaner), just loosen the metal straps, take the old top half off, install the new top and then reattach the straps.
The only difference I noticed was that my gas mileage went down and I have not changed my driving habits. Thinking about going back to the stock cover.
...when you re-install the grommets over the plastic pegs, use a light application of your favorite grease to make installation and future removal easy. I've lost two of those grommets in my engine compartment, never to be found again. They cost approx. $2.50 each at the dealership.
