OUCH!! Just missed second gear...
Oh man does that hurt. I did a high rpm run in first gear and went to make the routine bang to second which resulted in a lot of grinding. Man, is that a nasty sound. I hope I didn't hurt anything. I am known by my buddies to be one of the fastest shifters around but not today. It was just not my day. 800 miles on the car and broke second gear in. hahaha Well, as they say "it will fit better next time". Or is that "if you can't find it, grind it". hahaha

Yep, did the same thing with about the same number of miles on mine. I was taking one of my friends out for a ride to show off a bit... All I ended up doing was to show him what kind of noise it makes when I missed second! :cry :cuss Almost 10k miles now with no problems, so I probably only damaged my pride.
Isn't it a great feeling though when you hit second just right and it feels like you never stop accelerating?

Not in the Z and i hope i never do..Did it a few times in myZR1, but it didn't do any harm...I suppose if your driving it hard, its going to happen some day...I havn't seen too many posts on transmissions breaking :cheers: It will be interesting when you can get both of your beasts to the track on the same day and post some times...A Z06 and a Viper, :cheers:

I did that once going into third...just try to keep it at a minumum. After all who knows how that guy that moves the cars around at the dealership drives? The transmission had better be able to take a little bit of abuse.

I also bit second gear yesterday. 1800 miles OUCH! I was also taking a friend out, boiled the tires all through first gear, then (short) shifted to second. So I double clutched, slammed it back into second and didn't hold anything back. These cars just rock!

I also did it this week getting onto the interstate flooring it and crunch crunch into third, had a horrible feeling of dread come over me but now i don't feel so bad hearing that you Z06 guys have done it too.
