I have been searching and reading through threads for an hour but can't find something on removing all of the interior carpeting in my C5. Been to "general" "tech" and "audio". Searched remove carpet and insulation.
I am going to rewire a new audio system and sound insulate at the same time. Checked the "stickies" also. If somebody has the thread ( I know it's here somewhere) please send it along here.
its rather straight forward, pull the seats, center console, door sills and kick panels off and it will start to make its way out. So basically take apart everything that looks like its holding the carpet down and it will pretty much explain itself as you go through it.
Theres no sticky because its that simple. Pop the pushpin on the plastic pieces on the seat tracks and unbolt the seats. Remove the center counsle. Pop off the sil panels on each side. And the side sil pieces they just pull off. You may or may not have to drop the piece under the glove box if you do its plastic pin. Carpet should basically lift out at this point. For the rear just remove the side panels. It basically all just snaps together, posting in Audio will prly get more responses
Thanks guys - I already took the center console and armrest out to put my Hurst shifter in last week. What you'r saying is that's all there is to it, just a little more of the same.
I really wouldn't have any problem in trying to change a cam in the car but the thought of messing with my interior flips me out somehow. Thanks, I'll get over it.

Yep, easy as one, two, three . . . now where have I heard that before.
Very easy - just keep going from where you left off and the interior will be nekkid before you know it. I think it took me less than an hour including the seats and every other piece in there the first time I tried it and I didn't even bother referring to the service manual before starting.
It is down hill after the console is out.
Check the Vette Essentials web site for some of the best step-by-step instructions for removing and reinstalling components.
Careful with the door sills and the plastic behind the seats around the seat belts. The metal clips are thin and the plastic they are stuck to is even thinner. I broke a few getting mine out, fortunately for me I was replacing it, so I didn't worry about it.
