Default Drove a C6 today

A friend of mine had me and another friend detail his dirty black C6 today. Not sure of the exact options but it did have navigation, and a ton of other cool options. It was, of course, 6speed.

I really like the car but I think I like my C5 Z06 better! I didnt care for the limited view out of the front of the C6 and looking through the rear view mirror out the back glass...the image was pretty distorted because of the curves in the rear glass.
The car is bone stock other than Magnaflow exhaust and it sounded bone stock. I couldnt really hear the car going through the gears. When I get in the C6 it makes me feel like Im in some sort of luxury car with all of the nice options. I didnt feel like I was in a Corvette. I can definately tell that the C6 is not as wide as the C5...it was almost too small for my tastes inside.

Now I get in my C5 Z06 w/ Borla exhaust and I just feel like I should be breaking some laws!

I guess a C6 with headers and exhaust would make me feel better, but the stock C6 just didnt give me the feeling of a muscle car with a lot of raw power.

Just some thoughts...
What do you guys like or dislike about the C6?

nice report. it took me awhile to get used to the headlights. i really didn't like them at all at first. the exhaust tips that i saw on one at the dealer the other day made me gag. small diameter tips with drilled holes inside or something weird like that. one thing i forget to check is if the center consoles are painted. that would be horrible in my opinion.

i do like the wheels and better shifting tranny(from what i hear) plus i do drive mine a lot since it is a almost daily driver and the navigation would be nice. not to mentionit looks better then the C5 factory head unit.

at the end of the day though, i love my Z and i don't feel like i'm missing out on a thing. as a matter of fact, i turned down getting a C6 the day i bought my C5 and never looked back.

I just bought my C5 Z06 a month or so ago and I had the chance to look at both the C6 and my C5 Z06, both in black. I really just do not like the styling of the new vette. The C6 isn't as sleek as the C5 Z06, it seemed bulkier. I also love the look of the hardtop on the C5 Z06. I'm not a fan on the hatch back at all.

My "2" Sense, having sold my '04 this past spring......sure do miss her!!!

I've got the itch again. Drove a friends '07 6-speed with Z51 and L1 package for a whole weekend.....completly stock. It doesn't have all the fancy extras. I dont' like the seat design or leather as well as the C5 ZO6's. I think the dash, and gauges looks cheaper, the ride isn't as firm, the exhaust is to quite and it doesn't feel like shes pulling as hard through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. It's a little tighter inside but thats OK. It handles as just as good, the milage is as good, its quieter inside. The exterior panels fit better, has more interior overall space and will respond better to minor mods.

The issue I'm having is the '07's are deeply discounted, the friend above paid $39,ooo and change. Its hard to justfy paying $36,000 or more for another '04 (3years old) when you can own a brand new Vette for the same price as some folks are asking, or for just a few thousand more. GM is sure making it interesting

I drove the C6 also, I like it
I like the seats better, Hids, the navigation, and removable top/clear top, shifter feel. its pretty much more comfortable IMO.
but I wouldnt Trade my C5Z for it. I like the car to driver feel of the C5Z more if that make sence

i can see what you are saying about the price to a point. but really, when you look at what you are actually getting for the money i think the choice(for me anyway) becomes clear. don't get me wrong, i think the C6 is nice, i just feel that the C5 Z is much better which is why i bought it instead.

I had one fully loaded with Z51 and 6 speed...I liked the seats, the nav and the HID lights..other than that, I agree with your post. It is too tame for me.

I want a C6 if only for the headlights and the shorter overall length (and marginally longer wheelbase). However, I have absolutely convinced myself that the only C6 I'd settle for is the C6 Z06. Once you make that pledge to yourself (to stay Z06), it becomes a lot easier...mainly because I cannot afford one. But one day my chance will come to go from my C5Z to a C6Z (probably after the C7Z is out...hehe).

I really love having the highest performance factory Corvette (for it's model year) and I don't want a "normal" Corvette after experiencing and owning a Z06! Just today someone who stopped by my house asked me if my Corvette was a Z06 model, and when I said "yes, as a matter of fact it is" I could see his eyes light up. The Z06 badge carries additional respect!

I'm finally used to the new style C6. Now I actually love the looks of It, It grew on me fast! When I drove one It felt alot smaller Inside. I agree with you on that. I love technology and I really liked driving the C6~I think It's an amazing machine. It felt like a Corvette to me, just alot smaller. I still love my Z but I wouldn't mind at all having both

Here's a story:
I went to the Chevy dealership, they had quite a few vettes. They had a used 2005 Coupe with 1,500 miles on it and a 2004 Z06. The '04 Z06 had 2,900 miles on it and was actually $1,000 more than the C6..

And that very '04 Z06 that was at that lot is what sits in my garage today.

The C6 is an extremely NICE car, it is fast, good handling and good riding..NOT to mention very comfortable to drive and had enough creature comforts for The Jetsons.. But what sold me on the C5 Z06 was the rawness/brutality factor.

I had the chance to drive a c6 while at spring mountain driving school. I didn't like the feel of the clutch, too soft, didn't dislike the shifter, but liked mine better. Seemed like I wasn't getting any input/feel through the pedals as well. Absolutly did not like the door handle set up, or the push button start. I thought the view from the rear view mirror out the rear glass was terrible. As far as the feel of the car, too refined. It handled well, stopped, turned, fine, just not as raw as the Z. Too quiet inside the cockpit as well. The glass roof was pretty cool though, and the g meter was cool also. If my wife wanted a corvette, I'd buy her a C6, but its the Z for me, get your kicks in a Z06.

If I had $ to burn I would have a C6 vert, but only after my Z06. The Z just feels like you're driving a race car more so than a C6

I've driven the C6 on a track and my opinion of it was that it was the best Cadillac I've ever driven.

I have a C6 and my dad has a 2002 C5 Z06. The C5 Z06 has a more "raw" and "visceral" feel to it and is more of a factory race car than the C6, which has more luxury and amenities. However, things like the headlights, interior, and overhangs are all tragically dated on the C5. The interior especially feels like a bad tupperware experiment. That being said, the C6 interior is still a piece of work, maybe one day GM can build a great one.

Performance-wise, the C5 Z06 is marginally quicker, but it only matters for those who split hairs on track day or for those who need a confidence boost regarding their manliness. And we can't forget those third-member enlarging Z06 badges

I love both cars though. I would have bought a C5 Z06 because it offered all the performance of a C6 Z51 at a lesser price; however, as my only car the storage space on the C6 is vastly greater, and I didn't anticipate falling in love with the C6's lines... but I did. I liked how it finally got rid of the remaining "fat elvis of sports cars" cues that began with generation 3.

Here are some photographs of us cruising together. Sorry to say, the C6 gets much more attention than my dad's ride. It was this way before the mods, too. I don't really care for attention either way, but he feels a bit down when people check out the cars and then move over to the C6. I know that in 10 years the Z06 will carry much more weight than just another regular C6, though. My guess is it's just "new Corvette" fever.

They're all awesome rides to me, I just love cars.

Don't hate cause you ain't. I had a blast with my C6 on the track last Saturday.

It seems most of these generational wars start because someone is trying to justify their choice.

I'm honestly not sure why so many C5Z enthusiasts like their cars to be super raw, since SOME refinement is a good thing. I suppose the weekend warrior and racing crowd might be able to make some case for it, but I personally love the options that come with the C5Z. Stuff like cruise control, dual zone AC, HUD, and memory seats...this stuff makes life better!

I can also say I'm looking forward to even further refinement in the C6Z...one day!
