Default C5 a cooler group now

You know, now that the C5 is old news and the C6 has been out for a couple of years, I find the C5 group on the board here has gotten a lot cooler.

Seems like the fashion posers and the exteme **** retentives have moved on to the C6 world with endless threads about expensive wheels and accessories and how they went round and round with their dealer because the stiching on the shift **** was 44.2 degrees instead of 45 exactly.

Just a more fun group board now, less about buying doo-dads and more about just having fun with the car.

Should have been on here during 98 - 99, a fun bunch of people and all kinds of ideas flying around.....It was really a hoot everyday. There was Bigtoe, Snowman and many others...always something new.

No criticism of our C6 brothers & sisters, but we HAVE been there and done that. I think you're right.

Yup, I hear you on that. I have a C6 and I must admit there is an extreme amount of idiocy in C6 gen. It seems to be a general Corvette thing, though. I'm surprised at the level of one-upsmanship and foolish pride amongst 'vette drivers, as well as the desire to "show off" even the most mundane things. Special badges come to mind, but what really kills me is when people chrome and paint their entire engine bay. It's an ENGINE BAY, NOT A JEWELRY BOX! If you want a jewelry box, get a sex change!

I was put off by how the C5 community reacted to the new C6, but now I'm put off by how the C6 community acts like they're all that. It's frustrating, really. They're just cars, and soon there will be a C7, etc...

The only reason I wound up with a C6 is because I am a car enthusiast first (note car, no specific car, just a CAR enthusiast). The C6 was the least expensive way I could go as fast as possible and still retain some degree of daily-driving practicality (C5 Z06 was highly considered but has way less trunk space). If I had more money a year ago, I'd probably be driving something else even faster

I love and appreciate cool cars and Corvettes. Let's just be enthusiasts and live in peace!

I've never understood the generational rivalry between Vette owners. I almost feel disliked when I go into some of the other forums. I don't need that.

I tend to spend the vast majority of my time in C5 general.

I appreciate the real enthusiasts over the drive only on Sunday never beyond 55 mph set who think their car is made out of gold. It's one of the reasons why I won't join the one formal Corvette club in my area since a lot of the members probably have a similar mentality.

The C5 seems to be getting 'cooler', because younger people can afford them now since the prices are dropping.

I agree w/ the initial statement.

*C6 forums are where the posers and trendy folks have moved on to.
*C6 Z06 is where all the rich guys who used to buy Ferraris have gone to
*C4 is where the lunatics keep trying to tell themselves that they don't need a C5 or C6

Can't say that I've been in the older ones.

Also, the forum is 8 or 9 years old now... so ther are many more people on here, many more friends on here, and many more events/gatherings for people to get to know each other.
