You should probably post this in the C3 section, but in answer to your question.....the Crossfire injection system only came out in 1982 and 1984. There were no 1983 Corvettes, hence, the skip in years.
The 1981 had a carb on it, but it was an ECM controlled carb. Not a very good/reliable system. Keeping the electronic carb properly functioning was a pain in the butt. There were only 2 types of Crossfire systems.....the ones that worked, and the ones that were a nightmare.
