I notice a lot of you guys are not running cats, but I hear no talk of the CEL? Is the light on for you guys? Do a lot of you guys not have emission testing?
If not, how do you turn it off? I know for my mustang we did MIL eliminators, which didn't work, then we had to get a tuner... Do you guys have a tuner to turn of the CEL or what is it?
I believe people use the O2 sims. I went cat-less in my 98 Cobra , I used the sims , and never tripped a light . I even got a sticker with it .
My 2 cents .
Good Luck
I am not a cat person. I see their little paw prints on my work truck and it makes me glad I keep the vette in the garrage. Ok, no more kidding. In California, the CHP will set up road side emmissions test sites from time to time, and it measures your emmissions as you drive by. You don't want to get caught with out your cats.
We dont have emissions in Florida. Like posted above, usually everyone that runs no cats uses the O2 sims but you cant get them anymore since they are "illegal" now. Best thing to do is get it tuned so it will not trip any codes.

good luck getting away with no cats in NJ. My friend who inspects my car says he has to see something there that looks like cats or he will get in a lot of trouble.
of course swapping exhaust in the middle of the night is ok
Yea I get the Mustang privately inspected... Im not positive if they still do visual inspections, but obviously I will have to look into that.
I was just curious, but I don't want the same hassle as the mustang, so if they still do visuals, the cats will be on the car.
Although most of the inspection stations I know of don't use visuals anymore, they just plug in the OBD and check for codes, in which case my tuner would eliminate that problem.

The problem is if they happen to look or if a NJ inspector happens to walk in. I guess the fine is big if a private station doesn't look (wink wink) and they are caught.
